Enabling sending referrer

OK, so here was my first problem.  I tried to delete the "hello world" type posting which is initially set up by the kind folks at blogsome as your introductory example, and when I chose the delete option in the management menu, I simply got an error message which said I could not do it because enabling sending referr was not active.

A quick click on the link gave me the answer, but it was quite wordy and you did need to know what was going on.  Basically, it is about this blog system being secure and making sure that you are who you said you were when you put your password in.  In order to do this, you have to allow your computer to broadcast to blogsome that you are who you said you were… (otherwise you would have to be re-entering your user name and password for every page etc).  So the problem is the security on your own computer.  What with firewalls, antivirus programs and browser paranoia, it is understandable that your machine is not going to be set up to allow this broadcasting to all and sundry if asked.  So, you have to create exceptions in your software (and the help tells you how to do this) which allow communication with blogsome only.  Once done, everything is fine… but it took as long to sort this out as it did to register in the first place!

Blog -10 mins to setup from scratch

I am writing an introduction to blogging as part of the Virtual Riders website and thought that the best way to explain it would be to set one up.
So, this is it.  I started by researching free blog sites and this one looked straightforward.  No messing about… and I think I have made a good choice.  I registered, picked up my password, logged on and changed my password, adjusted the blog theme and started typing within 10 minutes. I will not doubt have more to say as time goes on, including some words about tagging, but will be back with the full feature on blogging and how to set it up presently.
